Virginia Wounded Warrior Program
Connecting servicemembers, veterans, and their families to available resources has become increasingly difficult as both the number of veterans in need and the number of available veteran programs have expanded over the last decade.
If an injured veteran is looking for a technical training program, for example, the sheer number of veteran programs and organizations that are focused on other services, such as college education or job training, can drown out the specific program that would be appropriate for the veteran. And even if a resource related to technical training is identified, there is always a risk that the program is not reputable and may, in fact, be a scam.
The Virginia legislature created the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program (VWWP) to address these and other considerations specifically for veterans that are suffering from stress-related injuries or traumatic brain injury. The VWWP connects veterans and their families with available programs and services that are both reputable and specifically tailored toward the needs of these veterans. The program also provides local support groups and other personal opportunities, which serve as a great alternative to the often impersonal VA.
